Our client, a diverse, full-service architecture and engineering company with operations throughout the Continental United States, supporting the Department of Defense, federal government, and private sector clients, is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer II-III to join their team. This position will be based in Charlotte, NC.

 

Position Summary

The Civil Engineer II-III will manage the design of various projects, including surveying, site plans, drainage, utilities, and horizontal infrastructure. Experience in projects for Department of Defense facilities is advantageous, demonstrating an understanding of the unique requirements of the active military. This role requires a blend of general knowledge of physical sciences, mathematics underlying engineering, and specialized knowledge in areas such as mechanics of solids, hydraulics, strength of materials, and engineering geology.

 

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Conduct site visits to document conditions.
  • Prepare civil design for sites and projects.
  • Create civil detailing for construction drawings.
  • Assist in preparing written reports.
  • Plan, design, construct, and/or maintain structures and facilities.
  • Investigate, measure, survey, and map the earth’s physical features and phenomena.
  • Conduct research and development activities.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making substantial engineering adaptations and modifications as necessary.
  • Assist in planning, designing, and monitoring projects for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
  • Serve as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction, and/or maintenance.
  • Review consultant-prepared design drawings, prepare technical specifications, and review engineering plans for compliance with regulatory acts.
 
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Masters preferred.
  • Current professional engineering license with the ability to be licensed by comity in other states.
  • 5+ years of design and/or construction experience.
  • Experience in military facilities design is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of applicable design and building codes.
  • Proficiency in civil analysis computer software, Civil3D, and AutoCAD required; Microstation and HydraFlow experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and scheduling software.
  • Strong rapport with clients.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
