Overview: We are seeking a skilled Concrete Estimator with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Concrete Detailer to join our team. This role requires a solid understanding of concrete construction, local labor, materials, and equipment rates, including formwork equipment rentals and the ability to calculate reuse costs accurately. The Concrete Estimator will analyze project specifications, perform takeoffs, and prepare detailed cost estimates for various concrete projects, ensuring estimates align with project budgets and timelines.
Responsibilities:

Project Analysis and Bid Preparation:
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope and requirements specific to concrete elements.
- Prepare and present accurate and detailed cost estimates for concrete work, including formwork, foundations, slabs, walls, and other structural components.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project goals and requirements.

Quantity Takeoffs and Cost Estimation:
- Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and other materials based on construction drawings and specifications.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for concrete labor, materials, equipment, and formwork based on current market rates.
- Calculate formwork reuse costs and evaluate potential cost savings through effective formwork planning and equipment utilization.

Labor, Material, and Equipment Costing:
- Apply in-depth knowledge of local labor rates, materials pricing, and equipment rental costs specific to the concrete industry.
- Obtain pricing from vendors and suppliers for materials, concrete additives, formwork rentals, and related items.
- Work with internal and external resources to ensure costs are current, competitive, and reflective of project-specific needs.

Formwork Estimation and Reuse Calculations:
- Assess formwork requirements for projects, including quantities, equipment rentals, and reuse strategies to optimize costs.
- Accurately calculate reuse costs for formwork and ensure estimates reflect optimal formwork utilization based on project timelines.
- Coordinate with formwork suppliers and rental companies to secure favorable terms and pricing.

Bid Submission and Client Communication:
- Compile and submit comprehensive bid proposals to clients, ensuring all costs and assumptions are clearly documented.
- Provide detailed breakdowns of concrete-related costs and present estimates in a manner that aligns with client needs and project objectives.
- Address any client questions, concerns, or modifications regarding concrete estimates and pricing strategies.

Risk Management and Value Engineering:
- Identify potential project risks and propose alternative solutions to mitigate cost impacts.
- Engage in value engineering by suggesting alternative materials or construction methods to achieve client objectives without compromising quality.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation for each estimate, including calculations, cost breakdowns, and assumptions.
- Prepare regular reports on estimating performance, including bid success rates, cost comparisons, and profitability analyses.
- Document any changes or revisions to cost estimates and maintain a history of adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Concrete Detailer with additional experience in concrete estimating.
- Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, materials, formwork systems, and project requirements.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of local labor, materials, and equipment rates, including formwork rental costs and reuse calculations.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy in cost estimation, takeoffs, and budget forecasting.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and project teams.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
