Our client is a diverse, full-service architecture and engineering company with operations across the United States. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer II-III to join their team in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Summary
This role involves performing mechanical design for HVAC systems and energy modeling in both new construction and renovations. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of current codes such as IBC, IMC, ASHRAE, etc. Experience in Central Energy Plant systems is preferred, and familiarity with the unique requirements of Department of Defense facilities is advantageous. Additionally, providing support to others as needed is part of the responsibilities.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Plan, design, construct, and/or maintain mechanical systems and components.
- Prepare mechanical detailing for construction drawings.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making substantial engineering adaptations and modifications as necessary.
- Conduct site visits to document conditions and assist in the preparation of written reports.
- Assist in the planning, designing, and monitoring of projects for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
- Serve as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Prepare specifications or construction cost estimates and assist in evaluating contract bids.
- Manage projects and ensure adherence to applicable design and building codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong written communication skills.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

Current Professional Engineering license and ability to be licensed by other states.

Minimum five (5) years of design experience, with military facilities design experience being a plus.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software.

Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.

LEED AP certification or ability to become certified within six months.
