Responsibilities
- Perform testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) activities on commercial HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.
- Conduct airflow measurements, temperature and pressure readings, and system performance evaluations using specialized equipment and instrumentation.
- Analyze test data and generate comprehensive reports detailing system performance, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to troubleshoot system issues and implement necessary adjustments or modifications.
- Maintain accurate records of TAB activities, including test results, equipment calibration logs, and project documentation.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards throughout TAB operations to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and apprentices as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in commercial HVAC testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) operations.
- Proficiency in using TAB equipment and instruments, such as flow hoods, anemometers, manometers, and temperature sensors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and diagnose system performance issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and components, as well as applicable industry standards and regulations.
- TAB certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NEBB, AABC, TABB) is highly desirable.
