Millwork & Casework Estimator

About the Role

Our client, a full-service architectural millwork shop, is seeking an experienced Millwork & Casework Estimator to join their growing team. This role owns the bid process from start to finish — turning drawings and specifications into accurate, competitive cost estimates for casework, millwork, and finish carpentry. The ideal candidate combines sharp technical knowledge of millwork materials and construction methods with the organizational skills to keep multiple bids moving on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review architectural, engineering, and interior design drawings and project specifications to scope estimating needs
  • Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for casework, millwork, and finish carpentry packages
  • Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities without compromising design intent
  • Develop detailed project plans and scopes of work based on project requirements
  • Partner with the production team to ensure smooth handoff from estimating through production and project management
  • Source competitive pricing from vendors and suppliers on materials
  • Track industry pricing trends, project costs, and historical estimate data
  • Communicate clearly with clients, architects, and contractors on project details, specifications, and bid clarifications
  • Verify that proposed designs meet applicable building codes, safety standards, and client requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience in millwork/casework estimating or a closely related field
  • Strong working knowledge of cabinetry and millwork materials, fabrication methods, and industry standards
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications with precision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software (e.g., Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar) is a plus
