The Estimator is responsible for supporting preconstruction efforts across one or more disciplines, including quantity surveying, subcontractor solicitation, and independent research of specified items. This includes reviewing project plans, specifications, and supporting documentation to develop accurate estimates.
Duties & Responsibilities

Internal

Prepare consistently accurate and detailed quantity surveys

Identify, research, and obtain relevant information for items being quantified or solicited from subcontractors

Independently develop complete project cost estimate packages for projects up to $5M, depending on complexity

Owner / Architect

Attend preconstruction meetings to gain project information and exposure to external customer interactions

Subcontractor
-
Maintain awareness of the local subcontractor community and differentiate capabilities of subcontractors being solicited

Clearly and effectively discuss project scope during the subcontractor solicitation process

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field

Skills & Experience
-
Excellent listening and communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (e.g., Timberline), and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera)

Strong attention to detail and resourcefulness in acquiring project-specific information
-
Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Effective at managing multiple tasks with differing deadlines

Flexible to work hours as required by project or proposal deadlines

- Physical Demands

Capable of traversing construction-type terrain, climbing ladders and temporary stairways

Conduct visual inspections of construction quality and materials

Perform jobsite walks to ensure project completion and identify/eliminate safety hazards

- Work Environment

Duties are performed on-site and in-office; this role is not remote

Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration

Occasionally exposed to extreme job site conditions and loud noise levels

Work is performed in outside weather conditions
