Summary

Our client is a well-established structural engineering and foundation repair company specializing in structural, seismic, and foundation solutions for residential and commercial properties throughout Southern California. They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (SE Licensed) to provide technical leadership for the engineering department while serving as the Engineer of Record for the firm.

This is a director-level opportunity for an experienced California Structural Engineer who is looking to play a key leadership role within a growing organization. The successful candidate will oversee structural engineering operations, mentor engineering staff, review complex structural designs, and collaborate with leadership on the continued growth and success of the business. This role also offers the potential for future board-level involvement.

This is a fully onsite position based in Sunland, CA, with flexibility to work 2 days per week from the Yorba Linda office and 3 days per week in Sunland if preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership
    • Serve as the licensed Structural Engineer of Record for the organization.
    • Provide technical leadership and oversight for structural engineering projects.
    • Review, approve, and stamp structural calculations, plans, and engineering documents.
    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and engineering staff.
    • Ensure engineering work complies with California Building Code and applicable industry standards.
  • Structural Design & Analysis
    • Perform structural analysis and design for residential and commercial foundation, structural, and seismic retrofit projects.
    • Evaluate existing structures and recommend structural repair or reinforcement solutions.
    • Develop structural calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
    • Review field conditions and provide engineering recommendations during construction.
  • Project & Client Collaboration
    • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, architects, contractors, and clients throughout project execution.
    • Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise during design and construction.
    • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and engineering problem-solving.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Maintain compliance with California building codes, seismic requirements, and engineering regulations.
    • Ensure engineering documentation is accurate, complete, and prepared to professional standards.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices throughout the organization.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Required Experience
    • Active California Structural Engineer (SE) License required.
    • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience.
    • Extensive experience designing structural and seismic retrofit projects in California.
    • Strong knowledge of California Building Code, seismic design requirements, and structural engineering principles.
    • Previous experience serving as Engineer of Record or in a senior technical leadership role preferred.
    • Experience reviewing and approving engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong structural analysis and design capabilities.
    • Experience with structural engineering software and design tools.
    • Ability to prepare and review structural calculations and construction documents.
    • Strong understanding of structural systems, foundations, and seismic strengthening.
