The Senior Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects. This includes analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and develop accurate estimates.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and other costs.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans for potential project challenges.
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical cost records.
- Provide input on value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules.
- Monitor project costs during construction to ensure adherence to budget.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, providing guidance and support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in [insert specific industry or type of construction].
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
