Construction Superintendent (Multifamily)

Our client is a highly respected and in-demand multifamily commercial general contractor based in San Diego, CA. As an owner-builder with several exciting developments underway, they are in a strong growth phase and seeking an experienced Superintendent who can immediately step in and lead field operations.
In this role, you will oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality. You will implement project plans, coordinate field teams and subcontractors, maintain schedules, drive progress, and uphold a proactive jobsite culture.
Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee and manage daily field operations for multiple projects simultaneously

Implement and enforce the company’s safety program, maintaining a safe work environment and fostering team-wide participation

Ensure project materials and work comply with quality standards, specifications, drawings, and applicable codes

Drive and update the construction schedule daily; ensure milestones and final completion dates are met
-
Collaborate with the project team to issue purchase orders and verify material deliveries and equipment returns
-
Maintain an accurate inventory log and manage material distribution to field staff

Supervise field employees and subcontractors, ensuring efficient work planning and accurate time/production reporting

Lead and mentor field teams, contributing to their professional growth

Conduct project meetings with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients to maintain alignment and progress

Maintain a detailed daily superintendent log documenting activities, inspections, and site conditions

Conduct weekly safety meetings, jobsite discussions, and safety inspections
-
Prepare and submit weekly progress reports by end of day Friday

Establish and maintain trust and credibility with owners, subcontractors, and project partners

Review work details with subcontractors and A/E teams to ensure compliance

Review vendor drawings and submittals

Promote a strong quality culture that values craftsmanship and customer satisfaction

Approve personnel-related actions (hiring, transfers, wages) in coordination with project management

Participate in or lead means-and-methods planning, bringing creative and practical solutions to the project team

Collaborate with all project teams and subcontractors to resolve issues and support overall project objectives

Mentor craft workers, supervisors, and engineering staff to uphold company standards
Qualifications & Requirements

8–10+ years of experience in construction supervision
-
Experience running ground-up multifamily or hotel projects
-
Strong working knowledge of all trades; ability to read and understand plans/specifications

OSHA 10-hour training (or equivalent); CPR/First Aid certified
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project

Intermediate to advanced experience with Procore

Experience with BIM, LEAN, and LEED practices is a plus

Ability to work with digital images (open, view, adjust, print)

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Ability to work outdoors year-round and in various weather conditions

Ability to work extended hours when required

Ability to navigate all areas of a construction site and lift heavy objects as needed

Ability to climb, raise, and lower various types of ladders

Valid motor vehicle record that meets company and insurance requirements

Effective use of phone and email communication to stay connected with project teams

Strong leadership and motivational skills; team-oriented mindset
