Duties & Responsibilities
- Project Lifecycle Management: Directly supervise and manage the entire construction process, from initial construction drawings and design phases through to project completion and final sign-off, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Labor and Resource Coordination: Oversee the labor function for all assigned projects, including managing construction agreements, providing oversight of general contractors, conducting regular project visits, and facilitating necessary follow-ups.
- Design and Plan Assessment: Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of project plans, including architectural, structural, and design specifications, to ensure feasibility, compliance, and quality.
- Contract Negotiation & Vendor Management: Review bids from subcontractors, negotiate favorable contracts, and effectively manage relationships with all vendors and trades.
- Quality Assurance & Workmanship: Coordinate various trades and subcontractors, conducting rigorous assessments of workmanship to ensure the highest standards are met at every stage of construction.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain consistent and transparent communication with all stakeholders, including management, clients, subcontractors, and design teams, providing regular updates and addressing concerns proactively.
- Site Supervision & Progress Monitoring: Conduct consistent, detailed site visits to monitor progress, activity, and the quality of work performed by all installers, providing regular feedback and updates.
- Design Collaboration & Information Provision: Collaborate closely with interior designers and other relevant parties to review shop drawings, provide necessary measurements, and supply other critical information as required.
- Budget Management & Cost Control: Diligently monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring all work is completed within financial parameters and to the approved plan.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all project activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices, particularly those related to hotel improvement trades.
- Risk Management & Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and effectively resolve complex issues that arise during the construction process.
- Final Inspection & Handover: Conduct comprehensive final job-site inspections and facilitate the official sign-off upon project completion, ensuring all deliverables are met.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience specifically within commercial construction, with a strong preference for ground-up hotel or hospitality projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical), Architecture, or a related field.
- Construction Expertise: Proven hands-on experience managing the entire construction process from design to completion, including comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and safety regulations.
- Commercial Project Experience: Demonstrated experience in new construction of commercial projects, with a strong portfolio of successfully delivered ground-up developments.
- Multi-Project Management: Must have experience managing several projects and crews concurrently, demonstrating exceptional organizational and prioritization skills for projects of various sizes and complexities.
- Code Compliance: Thorough familiarity with all building codes, regulations, and best practices related to commercial and hotel improvement trades in California.

- This full-time Project Manager position is based in San Diego, CA, requiring a strong presence on-site at various commercial construction locations.
